Project OverviewThe Infrastructure GBU’s Renewables & Clean Power business line is pursuing future combined cycle power plant projects. The business line is assembling a proposal team to be based in Reston, VA. Upon successful award, the candidate will mobilize to the project site.
Job SummaryThe Construction Lead Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for activities of the mechanical supervision team related to construction within the mechanical rotating equipment, centerline and HRSG discipline. In this role, you will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee the management including supervision of construction craft personnel, cost and schedule. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget.
MajorResponsibilities
- Manage the organization and direction of construction for all rotating equipment, centerline equipment, HRSG, tanks and vessels.
- Manage all mechanical activities including actions of Bechtel craft, subcontractors, and chemical cleaning activities.
- Oversee management including supervision of other mechanical superintendents.
- Manage area expenditures for labor, equipment, material and services and ensure field operations are within the budget.
- Establish project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.
- Develop, implement, and administer a jobsite security plan and coordinate the activities with corporate security department Safety & Quality.
- Review and monitor subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Review and approve where necessary, subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Lead mechanical equipment construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
- Coordinate with other subcontractors and external stakeholders to plan construction schedules.
- Review the project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
- Monitor installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Enforce policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Ensure Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinate engineering solutions with subcontractors, and foremen and craft professionals.
- Coordinate with design on constructability issues.
Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Experience on combined cycle facilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, tanks & vessels, centerline equipment and HRSG installation preferred.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving ability.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
- Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
- Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
- Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
