Position Description
The Young Actors Theatre (YAT) program is a five-week program, July 6 – August 7, 2026, that trains young actors in the disciplines of voice, dance and acting with a focus of exposing participants to the process of theatrical productions. There will be a maximum of 75 participants that are split into three groups. The 7-11 age group is limited to 50 participants who will be divided into two groups.
The 12-15 age group is limited to 25 participants. Each group will perform a final performance on one of the following dates August 5, 6, and 7, 2026.
Program and Administrative Responsibilities
- At the direction of the Costumes Director, supports YAT plays by helping to pull, build and buy costumes. Typical program hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. but costume work may extend outside this timeframe.
- Acts as wardrobe/backstage personnel for rehearsals and performances
- Contributes to an organized and positive rehearsal environment
- Prepares for and attends production meetings as assigned. Production meetings take place after 3:00 p.m.
- Participates in complete production schedule and strike, evenings August 5 – 7.
- Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school
- Must be available for the full term of the contract
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience/knowledge in the performing arts
- Knowledge of costuming, design, and/or backstage roles in theater
- Ability to do simple hand and machine sewing
- Experience working with youth
- Must be collaborative, dedicated, reliable, patient, and mature
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Must be First-Aid and CPR certified at the beginning of the program
