Al Fatih Academy (AFA) seeks teacher assistants for the  school year. AFAis a Muslim independent school serving preschool through Grade 8 with an anticipated enrollment of approximately 270 students in Reston, VA. AFA is dual-accredited by Cognia & CISNA and is an accreditation candidate with the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.

Teacher assistants at Al Fatih Academy may teach alongside another teacher in the homeroom and assist with classroom management. As needed, teacher assistants may support multiple classrooms or substitute for another teacher. Teacher assistants are expected to:

• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.
• Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers using activities, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
• Maintains a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice, and encourages others to adopt the same in the classroom.
• Maintains a cooperative attitude, working together with the teacher, volunteers, parents, and program specialists to plan and implement activities.

Candidates should be committed to developing their teaching knowledge and skills under the supervision of a primary classroom teacher and should exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to Al Fatih Academy’s mission.
