Al Fatih Academy (AFA) seeks elementary school teachers for the  school year. AFA is a Muslim independent school serving preschool through Grade 8 with an anticipated enrollment of approximately 270 students in Reston, VA. AFA is dual-accredited by Cognia & CISNA and is an accreditation candidate with the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.

The elementary school teacher plans and delivers engaging lessons to a diverse group of students, requiring a strong understanding of differentiated instruction and collaborative teaching strategies to help all students reach their full potential.

Responsibilities include:

• Create and deliver lesson plans based on Al Fatih Academy’s Integrated Curriculum. Lessons connect concepts across Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and the Islamic Sciences in thematic units created by AFA.
• Provides whole-group, small-group, and individual instruction as needed
• Develop and manage a positive classroom environment grounded in Responsive Classroom principles, aligned with school-wide policies and guidelines.
• Evaluate the academic and social growth of students and keep appropriate records.
• Communicate with student families on student progress and classroom updates.
• Commit to continued professional development as offered by AFA or other third parties.
• Maintains a level of professionalism with students, families, and fellow staff.

Ideal candidates should have teacher licensure, teaching experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to the mission of Al Fatih Academy.

We anticipate openings for both Lower and Upper Elementary.
