Your impact

Join our dynamic Transportation team in Reston, Virginia and play a key role in redefining how people and goods move. As a Transportation/Traffic Engineer, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of roadway designers, traffic engineers, planners, and operations experts to deliver innovative, multimodal solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

What You'll Do:

* Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects focused on intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors.

* Conduct traffic operations and safety studies using tools like Synchro, VISSIM, and HCM/HSM methodologies.

* Develop traffic control devices, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic designs incorporating traffic engineering requirements into rodaway plans and

* Preparing plans using design software such as CADD, Open Roads Designer, and Micro Station.

* Prepare and present high-quality technical reports to clients in both virtual and in-person settings.

* Apply a multimodal lens to every project-accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers across diverse environments.

Here's what you'll need

* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.

* EIT certification

* Experience in traffic engineering and analysis, preferably 4-6 years' experience.

* Hands-on experience with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, Sidra, or similar tools.

* Proven ability to lead on-call tasks and collaborate with VDOT and other clients.

* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ideally, you'll also have

* Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

* PTOE certification

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
