As an AFSIM Modeling and Simulation Specialist, you will support national security research, development, and defense technology assessments in a high-performance environment. You will work closely with simulation experts and military subject matter experts to create, execute, and analyze models and scenarios using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) platform.
This role directly contributes to analytical studies informing the Department of Defense (DoD) on emerging technology capabilities and operational effectiveness.
Essential Job Functions:- Build complex models and entities in AFSIM reflecting real-world military systems.
- Create dynamic, realistic scenarios that simulate action-reaction interactions.
- Develop dynamic scripting techniques within AFSIM to control entity behaviors.
- Contribute to Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) study plans and execution.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts to translate technical and operational requirements into simulation models.
- Work closely with study leads and stakeholders to ensure study accuracy and relevance.
- Analyze AFSIM simulation results and present findings in written and oral formats.
- Collaborate with agile development teams to continuously improve simulation tools and methods.
- U.S. Citizenship (Required due to security clearance).
- Active TS Clearance with SCI eligibility.
- BS degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant analytical experience.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AFSIM scenarios/models.
- Scripting or programming experience (e.g., Python, C++, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills—written and verbal.
- Ability to apply the scientific method to diverse MS&A tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel when required.
Skills:
- MS degree in engineering, science, or technical field.
- Experience with STK, JMP, Python, C++, or R.
- Familiarity with modern military systems (foreign & domestic).
- Prior experience with NGTS, OneSAF, LVC, or similar modeling environments.
