Project Overview
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project, responsible for designing the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant and constructing the entire facility.
Job SummaryThe Poland AP1000 Engineering Procurement Lead will provide oversight and guidance to responsible engineers across all disciplines, advancing procurement of equipment and commodities for the AP1000 facilities. This role reports to the Project Engineer for procurement and will interface with Engineering Management to develop processes and procedures for the engineering‑procurement interface. The Lead will also train the engineering team, coordinate with procurement, and ensure overall quality of procurement packages.
The position is designated as part‑time telework with at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
- Lead the full lifecycle of procurement activities—planning, specification development, material requisitioning, bid evaluation, award, and tracking—ensuring alignment with Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), BSAPs, and project‑specific requirements.
- Establish and maintain an engineering‑procurement interface by developing processes, clarifying handoffs, resolving technical issues, and ensuring timely, high‑quality deliverables that support project procurement schedules.
- Oversee creation and verification of engineering documentation required for procurement, such as technical specifications, datasheets, BOMs, source evaluation criteria, and quality requirements—ensuring packages meet nuclear‑grade expectations.
- Create, maintain, and actively manage procurement‑related engineering schedules. Identify schedule risks, evaluate recovery options, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with project controls and discipline leads.
- Coordinate with Engineering Management, Project Management, Procurement, Construction, Startup, ES&H, and the customer to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and maintain alignment with EPC execution priorities.
- Perform and manage work in accordance with EDPs, design guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Develop and track SCAS schedules for approval.
- Maintain excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a diverse group of customers.
- Required a B.S. Degree in engineering or an associated scientific discipline from an accredited college or university with 8–10 years of progressive and relevant work experience.
- Prior experience responsible for procurement of equipment and commodities in a nuclear environment or in other industries with high quality standards (defense, space, etc.).
- Past experience leading a team of professional staff.
- Authorized to live and work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Able to complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
- Experience working in a nuclear safety work culture.
- Experience working on new nuclear power plants and/or AP1000 facilities.
