Project Overview

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes, recommending solutions to ensure unique and complex project requirements are met.

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment.
• Participates in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes using Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Coordinates work with other engineering disciplines and specialty groups, including client, vendor, contractor, and construction functions.
• Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
• Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel to resolve complex regulatory issues and codes.
• Assists project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and addressing issues during execution.
• Performs and manages work in accordance with relevant EDPs, design guides, and BSAPs.
• Supports mechanical engineering schedule in collaboration with all disciplines.
• Prepares/approves bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of assigned mechanical equipment, materials, and services.
• Addresses and resolves mechanical engineering‑related field or jobsite issues.

• Recognized degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university with 8+ years of work experience.
• Professional license from a recognized licensing board (or international equivalent) preferred.
• Technical knowledge of related mechanical systems, engineering calculations using standard software, and application of construction methods and materials.
• Knowledgeable in industry and regulatory codes and standards, and facilitating coordination for necessary approvals. Proficient in oral and written communication.
• Prior experience planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in semiconductor, AI data center, life sciences/pharma, or EV batteries.

• Knowledge of equipment packages such as chilled water systems, water treatment packages, condensers, cooling towers, air‑cooled heat exchangers, heating water systems, and skid‑mounted pumps and tanks.
• Experience with liquid cooling systems and HVAC on datacenter projects an added advantage.
• Good working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, API standards, AWWA, and NFPA, among others.
• Supports inputs to the engineering components of a mechanical estimate, including quantities, job hours, and budgets for proposals and execution.
• Knowledgeable in preparing and reviewing deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, pipe sizing/hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing/selection, datasheets, specifications, material requisitions, and technical evaluation of bidders.
