Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Systems Engineer, Operations Management

As we build a new team in Reston, VA, we're looking for engineers and technologists ready to be pioneers in the application of emerging tools and techniques, maintaining the highest reliability demanded by aerospace while bringing forth new products and capabilities at a brisk pace.
This is an onsite position in our Reston, VA office location. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government.
What you'll do:- Build, grow, and lead the avionics software engineering team
- Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing engineers
- Drive accountability and disciplined engineering execution
- Strengthen the team's DO-178B/C compliant development practices
- Partner with Quality/Compliance on audits, SOI reviews, and certification activities
- Coach staff on requirements, design, verification, traceability, and configuration management
- Develop resource plans and allocate staffing across projects
- Support estimating for proposals, bids, and program commitments
- Align staffing with Project Engineers and Program Management
- Maintain and improve engineering processes and tools
- Represent the software organization in planning and modernization efforts
- Bachelor's in Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master's a plus)
- 10+ years in commercial/military avionics or safety-critical embedded systems
- Strong hands-on experience with embedded real-time software across the full lifecycle
- Experience leading or managing software engineering teams in regulated environments
- Solid, practical DO-178B/C certification experience, including audits and SOI reviews
- Track record contributing to estimates, staffing plans, and proposals
- DAL A/B experience; familiarity with DO-330/331/332/333, DO-254, ARP
4754A, ARP
4761 - Background in Flight Management Systems, GNSS, navigation, or cockpit/mission avionics
- Experience with TSO-C115, DO-187, ARINC-653, IMA concepts, FACE, ARINC-429/664
- Experience standing up or scaling a new engineering capability
- Fast paced environment with significant autonomy

Summary pay range: $150,000 - $195,000
