Collections Representative
Job DescriptionAs a Collections Representative, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding assets by managing delinquent loan accounts, collecting overdue payments, and recovering collateral. You will ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including BSA/AML and Loan and Fair Lending Policies.
Responsibilities- Monitor and manage the Overdraft Privilege Program (ODP) reports daily.
- Resolve internal and external ODP related queries efficiently.
- Collaborate with members and Collections Agency to set up Fresh Starts and maintain accounts.
- Process charge-offs and elevate major concerns to the Collections Manager.
- Communicate with delinquent accounts via phone and mail to bring them current.
- Counsel members using guidelines, policies, and the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
- Analyze the financial situation of borrowers to explore possible hardship modifications.
- Collect on returned checks, delinquent property taxes, and negative shares.
- Submit delinquency loan activity to the supervisor.
- Work through the daily overdraft list and collaborate with customers on payments and solutions.
- Provide information on banking products and assist branches in resolving account issues.
- Minimum of 1 year banking collections experience, ideally in consumer lending collections.
- Proficiency in working on a computer throughout the day.
- Collections experience is a must.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous banking experience and familiarity with banking products.
- Capability to engage in direct conversations with clients over the phone.
- Competence in using computer systems to access customer accounts.
- Experience in a bank or credit union is necessary.
- Will need to take assessments.

The position offers a shift from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It is a contract‑to‑hire role with an initial duration of 120 days. Training occurs in Washington, DC, with the first two weeks dedicated to onboarding and additional training as needed. Employees will undergo a one‑day orientation and a seven‑day new‑hire training program. The location does not provide parking, but reimbursement of up to $15 per day is available for Reston staff commuting for training.

Pay and BenefitsPay range for this position is $21.50 - $25.00/hr.
