Position Title: Senior Collections Specialist
Location: Reston, VA -- on-site once/week
Assignment Type: 6 month contract role (with potential to convert)
Compensation
: $26-30/hr

Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience supporting or leading collections process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Strong interest in leveraging technology to streamline collections workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Proven ability to identify inefficiencies, recommend solutions, and drive operational improvements.
- Experience participating in system implementations, process redesign projects, or automation rollouts is highly desirable.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner closely with leadership on strategic collections initiatives.
- Self-starter who can take ownership of projects while balancing day-to-day collections responsibilities.
Job Description:
- Communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances, payment inquiries, and account-related concerns in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Track collection activities and maintain accurate account notes and records within internal systems.
- Partner with finance and operational teams to investigate account issues and support timely resolution.
- Assist with receivables reporting, account reconciliations, and analysis of overdue balances.
- Support collection efforts by monitoring aging accounts and following up on past-due invoices.
- Balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines within a fast-paced finance environment.
- Deliver a high level of customer service while driving successful collection outcomes.
- Contribute to special projects and provide additional support across finance operations as needed.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in collections, AR, or finance operations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a professional approach to collections.
- Ability to manage a large workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
