Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (40 hours/week, 30-minute lunch)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an HR Generalist to provide temporary support during a maternity leave. This role will focus on core HR operations, employee support, and HRIS administration. The incoming contractor will be trained by the current incumbent and work closely with HR leadership and cross-functional partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate new hire orientations both onsite and virtually using video conferencing tools
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions related to policies, systems, and general HR support
  • Support employee relations matters that do not require formal investigations, including documentation reviews and performance processes
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims and related coordination
  • Manage HR helpdesk tickets, including triage and assignment
  • Perform routine HRIS tasks such as password resets, employee data updates, and reporting
  • Coordinate logistics for onboarding activities, including communications and room setup
  • Contribute to ongoing HR projects, including digital file organization and system clean-up
  • Provide administrative and project-based support to the HR team as needed
Qualifications:
  • 2–3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist in a high-volume environment
  • Background supporting larger organizations preferred
  • Experience in industries such as retail, healthcare, construction, or government contracting is a plus
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms (UKG Pro strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of employment laws; DC employment law experience is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and virtual meeting tools
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain HR policies clearly and confidently
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a significant plus
  • SHRM or other HR certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field preferred
