ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking an AI/ML Engineer (SME) to support the MODES III program supporting Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP).
In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for architecting, developing, and integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into MODES III application development efforts to enhance functionality, automation, and mission outcomes. This position is remote and requires an active Secret clearance.
- AI/ML Engineer. Responsible for architecting, developing, and integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into MODES III application development efforts to enhance functionality, automation, and mission outcomes.
- Leads design and development of AI/ML-enabled application features supporting MODES III application development activities.
- Applies machine learning, natural language processing, or automation techniques to enhance application functionality, decision support, and user interaction.
- Oversees integration of AI/ML components into application architectures, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Establishes model development, training, validation, and deployment approaches aligned with Agile application development practices.
- Collaborates with application developers, product owners, and Dev Sec Ops teams to ensure AI/ML solutions align with functional requirements and release cycles.
- Ensures AI/ML implementations adhere to Government security, data handling, and ethical use guidelines.
- Provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise for AI/ML approaches used within application development efforts.
- Familiar with:
PyTorch /Tensor Flow/Keras, Hugging Face transformers, Lang Chain, RAG toolkits, FAISS/Pinecone, Sage Maker/Vertex AI, MLflow/Kubeflow, Terraform/Cloud Formation, EKS/GPU EC2, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/Open Search, AWS Lake Formation/Feature Store, Quick Sight/Tableau, Secrets Manager/KMS, eMASS/RMF.
- Active Secret clearance required.

Education:
12 years of relevant experience with BS/BA degree or 10 years with a MS/MA or 8 years with PhD or 16 years w/o a degree or 14 years with AS/AA. - Certifications:
This role requires a demonstration of capability within the Cyberspace IT workforce. Successful applicants must satisfy Foundational Qualification standards via an approved industry certification (e.g., A+ or Network+) or documented equivalent military/educational training as defined in the DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix.
- Eligible for Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and iterative development practices.
- Experience with machine learning model deployment, MLOps pipelines, or AI/ML frameworks in production environments.
- CompTIA Security+.
Work location: remote with ability to travel to the NCR if needed.
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
