GIS Portal Database Engineer​/Admin

About the Role

Vantor is forging the new frontier of spatial intelligence, helping decision makers and operators navigate what’s happening now and shape what’s coming next. As a database engineering/administration professional with strong geospatial analysis expertise, you will support the development, sustainment, and optimization of a multi‑network GIS Portal application and its associated intelligence mission workflows. The role is full‑time onsite in Reston, VA and requires an active U.S. Government security clearance at the TS/SCI level with CI polygraph.

Provide database and systems engineering/administration for a GIS Portal application that includes both desktop and web‑served components for 2D and 3D data with associated metadata. Perform on‑site system administration and requirements gathering for government customers, execute approved software changes, maintain and upgrade COTS products (including security updates), design backup mechanisms, and tune databases. Manage server administration, accreditation, cloud migration, data science/engineering tasks, ETL support, and write reports based on findings.

Coordinate image processing steps (ortho‑rectification, histogram optimization, sharpening), add intelligence information into models, perform terrain, GIS analysis, and overlay queries. Collaborate with analysts to ensure data quality and usability across the three networks hosting the portal.

• Current/active TS/SCI security clearance and CI polygraph
• U.S. Citizenship
• Six (6) years’ experience AND bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, geography, GIS operations, research, engineering, science, or a related technical field (degree may be substituted with an additional six years of experience)
• CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to attain it
• Programming skills sufficient to extract, transform, and clean multi‑terabyte databases
• Experience working with vector, raster, and 3D data and visualizations of GIS and other data sets
• Experience performing QA/QC of datasets
• Technical skills, knowledge, and experience to accomplish work with minimal oversight
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
• Experience in web development/database administration on IC systems
• Experience developing/administrating Oracle and Microsoft SQL Servers

• 5+ years working with JavaScript, C#, C++, XML, HTML, and SQL
• Proficiency in statistics packages such as SPSS, SAS, S‑Plus, or R
• Experience with Sketch Up, Terra builder, SKYLINE Global Server (SGS), SKYLINE Software Suite – Terra Explorer C2MP, ESRI Arc Pro 3.x or higher
• Experience with MIDB/MARS or other foundational military intelligence databases
• Experience performing system engineering and system administration
• PUA certification on an IC system or prior possession

• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is $ – $ annually.
