Description of Task to be Performed:Ana Vation is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team and support our mission‑critical customer in Reston, VA. As Lead, you will represent the engineering team in customer meetings, plan quarterly Agile development commitments, drive technology roadmaps, work with the Ana Vation Program Manager to accelerate customer priorities, and mentor senior, mid‑level, and junior engineers. The team works with AWS cloud services including modernization of Elastic, RHEL, WSUS, and cross‑domain integration and automation.
We support and enhance 10 core application and data services used by multiple Government Agencies. The Engineering Team includes 15 staff covering systems integration, cloud engineering, software engineering, administration, database administration, data science, and information system security.
This position is responsible for planning/estimating staffing, software licensing, and hosting capacity for roadmap projects and capabilities. It also serves as a personnel supervisor with 5‑7 direct reports for performance reviews, engineering career planning, technical interviews, Agile delivery prioritization and reviews, and timesheet approvals.
Required Qualifications:- Clearance: SCI Eligible, willing to obtain polygraph
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field
- Certifications: Within 30 days of contract start must hold or be able to attain DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support certifications (CompTIA CySA+ preferred or equivalent such as Security+ & Cloud+)
- Location: Full time on‑site in Reston, VA
- 8‑12 years of relevant technical experience
- At least 4 years leading AWS Cloud development modernization, monitoring, and support and production delivery
- At least 4 years leading Linux development engineering and production delivery
- At least 4 years leading Agile Development engineering programs for Government customers, including planning, assigning, and coordinating tickets
- At least 4 years working in classified Government environments
- Understanding of modern architectures with full‑stack experience in backend development, modern UI frameworks, relational databases, microservices, containers, scripting, and big data platform integration
- Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing dev, test, and production hosting environments
- Expertise in one or more programming or scripting languages (Java, Python, PHP, JavaScript, BASH, Power Shell)
- Experience with requirements traceability, documenting technical architectures, secure configuration of technology stacks and COTS/GOTS software, planning/estimating design, development and deployment of new capabilities, testing, and integration
- Experience with Government Assessment and Authorization (A&A) following Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Excellent communication skills and regular interaction with Contractor Program Manager and Government Leadership
