Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold an active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph. The position may be subject to U.S. export control laws requiring U.S. person status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
Responsibilities- This position is full time onsite in Reston, VA.
- Provide database and systems engineering/administration for a GIS Portal application that includes both desktop and web‑served components for 2D and 3D data with associated metadata.
- On‑site system administration, requirements gathering for government customers, and execution of approved software changes.
- Provide full life‑cycle COTS software support, including add‑ons, upgrades, enhancements, and security updates.
- Establish and maintain backup mechanisms, manage system performance, create database views, supply data for portal ingestion, and tune databases to enhance user experience.
- Ensure that the resulting products and services are optimized and maintained for their intended use.
- Assist with the creation, installation, and operation of the GIS database and its integration into other network analysis tools across the three supporting networks.
- Perform image processing steps—ortho‑rectification, histogram optimization, matching, and sharpening—in preparation for modeling.
- Integrate intelligence information into site models and simulations, performing terrain analysis, GIS analysis, spiral database queries, and overlay operations.
- Conduct server administration and accreditation responsibilities, including cloud migration and CIO interface to maintain and expand server capabilities across all networks that the portal resides on.
- Perform data science/engineering work and write reports based on the results.
- Support ETL for potential upgrades or technology transitions as needed.
- Current/active TS/SCI security clearance and current/active CI polygraph.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Six years of experience AND a bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, geography, GIS operations research, engineering, science, or another technical field; the degree may be substituted with an additional six years of experience.
- CompTIA Security+ certification or the ability to attain it.
- Programming skills sufficient to extract, transform, and clean multi‑terabyte databases.
- Experience working with vector, raster, and 3D data and data visualizations of both traditional and non‑traditional data sets; must include GIS data.
- Experience performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of datasets.
- Ability to accomplish work with minimal oversight.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Clarity and conciseness in expressing multi‑faceted concepts.
- Logical development of ideas leading to validated conclusions.
- Experience in web development/database administration on IC systems.
- Experience developing or administering Oracle and Microsoft SQL Servers.
- Five or more years of experience with: developing websites in JavaScript; developing with C#, C++, XML, HTML, and SQL; proficiency in statistics packages such as SPSS, SAS, S‑Plus, or R;
Sketch Up, Terra builder, SKYLINE Global Server (SGS), SKYLINE Software Suite – Terra Explorer C2MP, ESRI Arc Pro 3.x or higher; experience with the MIDB/MARS or other foundational military intelligence databases; system engineering and system administration; possession of a PUA certification on an IC system.
Base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $ – $ annually. For other states, geographic cost of labor is used to develop market‑driven ranges, so compensation may differ by location.
