Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to design, build, operate, and automate services for traditional IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Design and architect reliable, scalable infrastructure for current and future workloads.
  • Assist teammates in scaling infrastructure and handling capacity increases.
  • Collaborate with software development to deliver reliable and scalable solutions based on detailed deployment requirements.
  • Identify and support prototyping initiatives, including testing new applications or infrastructures.
  • Collect data for triage, prepare incident reports, and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of service performance.
  • Support incident response, maintenance tasks, security updates, backups, and recovery under supervision.
  • Provision and decommission infrastructure assets following established procedures.
  • Seek automation opportunities, develop scripts, and test automation to improve operations.
  • Communicate infrastructure capacity, security, and performance attributes within the team.
  • Provide on‑call support, investigate, debug, and document technical incidents.
  • Analyze incident trends, perform root cause analyses, and engage in post‑mortem activities to prevent recurrence.
  • Experiment with new tools and technologies to improve performance and reliability.
  • Support execution of performance enhancements and deployments.
  • Build and maintain observability stacks, dashboards, and alerts for system monitoring.
  • Design, implement, and manage distributed storage solutions and replication strategies.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Bash.
  • Mentor junior engineers on Unix performance, observability, and debugging practices.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation and lead responses for high‑severity incidents.
  • Contribute to defining system architecture standards and maintaining robust platform documentation.
  • Champion a culture of automation, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Security Clearance: U.S. Government TS/SCI with Polygraph; U.S. Citizenship required for Federal Government customer.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience:

    5+ years in software development, IT operations, or senior SRE roles.
  • Technical

    Skills:
    • Expertise with Unix/Linux systems, Oracle Linux preferred; kernel tuning and performance profiling.
    • Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
    • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
    • Experience building and managing hybrid infrastructure (on‑premises, VMware, containers, Kubernetes).
    • Hands‑on experience with monitoring, telemetry, and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana).
    • Expertise with distributed storage systems, especially GlusterFS; familiarity with NFS, SMB, iSCSI, NVMe‑OF.
    • Understanding of database replication, failover, and backup (PostgreSQL).
    • Experience with continuous integration platforms (Jenkins) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem‑solving and multitasking abilities.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills.
    • Ability to work independently under pressure and with geographically distributed teams.
    • Self‑motivated and willing to help where needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, or similar deployment tools.
    • Knowledge of additional distributed storage systems (Ceph, MinIO).
