Sr. Data Scientist (AWS, AI, ML)
Location: 1-2 monthly visits in DC Metro area (candidates from DC, MD, VA only)
Job Type: Contract
Work Mode: Hybrid – 1-2 monthly onsite visits in the DC Metro area. Interview Mode: 2 video rounds.
Job OverviewData Scientist to support a Federal Healthcare Insurance organization. The selected candidate will identify and solve business problems using statistical modeling, machine learning, AI, operations research, and data mining. They will support data science initiatives and communicate across product teams and with customers, educating on AI, ML, and statistical models. The role acts as a liaison between analytics, business units, and other departments.
Responsibilities- Identify and solve business problems using numerical techniques, algorithms, and models.
- Lead large data science projects from inception to completion.
- Work with product to refine requirements and coordinate efforts of other data scientists.
- Interface with stakeholders throughout the company.
- Communicate results of analyses clearly and effectively.
- Transform concepts into practical, production-ready solutions with documentation and unit tests.
- 8+ years as a Data Scientist with model building and deployment experience.
- Python and SQL required; advanced proficiency in Python, Spark/Scala, and ability to create data visualizations.
- Experience with AWS services (Sage Maker, Bedrock, Kendra, Lambda) and cloud migration.
- Strong expertise in AI/ML methods including supervised and unsupervised techniques, deep learning, and forecasting.
- Knowledge of machine learning libraries (Scikit-Learn, Numpy, Pandas) and open-source packages.
- Ability to write production-ready code with documentation and unit tests.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with ETL, data pipelines, and distributed computing (Hive, Hadoop).
- Experience with statistical packages such as R, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, Stata.
- Proficiency in healthcare analytics and data structures.
- Leadership of data science projects or teams.
- Experience with large datasets and distributed computing.
- Interdisciplinary skills in big data technologies, statistics, causal inference, deep learning, and simulation.
