ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a high-visibility TSA program. This role is responsible for architecting, engineering, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud solutions across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments, ensuring alignment with DHS/TSA security, compliance, and operational requirements.
Day to Day
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure and platform services across AWS and Azure in support of mission objectives
- Lead cloud engineering efforts across IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid environments
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM, Bicep, or Cloud Formation
- Ensure compliance with DHS security frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP)
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure architectures
- Support cloud migration initiatives and legacy system modernization
- Monitor performance, availability, and cost optimization
- Troubleshoot complex cloud/system issues and provide root cause analysis
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
- Partner with stakeholders to translate mission needs into technical solutions
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, Master's with 6 years, Associate's with 10 years, or High School diploma with 12 years of experience
- U.S. Citizenship, must have the ability to obtain / maintain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance.
- 5 years of overall IT experience, including 4+ years focused on cloud engineering (AWS and Azure)
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure VMs, App Services, AKS, Azure AD, AWS EC2, S3, VPC, IAM)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, Cloud Formation)
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (VNETs/VPCs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers)
- Experience supporting systems within federal or regulated environments (DHS, DoD, or similar)
- Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and CI/CD pipelines (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting TSA or homeland security programs
- Active Public Trust or higher-level security clearance.
- Relevant cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS)
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, Zero Trust Architecture)
- Experience with scripting and automation (Power Shell, Python, Bash)
- Experience with tools such as Service Now (SNOW), Chef, Nexus, Selenium, or similar platforms

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
