We are seeking an experienced Oracle Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, migration, and ongoing operations of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments supporting enterprise healthcare systems within the Military Health System (MHS). This role will be responsible for engineering secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure while supporting migration efforts from legacy on-premises environments to Oracle Cloud.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands‑on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), cloud migration strategies, infrastructure engineering, virtualization, networking, storage, security, and automation. This individual will play a key role in planning and executing cloud transformation initiatives, including lift‑and‑shift migrations, hybrid cloud architectures, infrastructure modernization, and operational optimization.
The Oracle Cloud Engineer will collaborate with solution architects, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, database administrators, application teams, and government stakeholders to ensure successful cloud adoption while maintaining compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements and Oracle best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, configure, and support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments for enterprise healthcare applications.
- Build and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure supporting mission‑critical workloads.
- Engineer cloud environments that align with Oracle Well‑Architected Framework principles and enterprise architecture standards.
- Develop infrastructure standards, deployment templates, and operational procedures for OCI environments.
- Configure and administer Oracle Cloud networking, compute, storage, identity, and security services.
- Lead and support cloud migration initiatives from on‑premises data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Design and execute lift‑and‑shift, re‑platforming, and modernization strategies for enterprise applications.
- Assess existing infrastructure and develop migration roadmaps and implementation plans.
- Perform cloud readiness assessments, dependency mapping, and migration planning.
- Coordinate migration activities with application owners, database administrators, infrastructure teams, and cybersecurity personnel.
- Validate migrated environments through testing, performance tuning, and operational readiness reviews.

- Implement Oracle Cloud security best practices.
- Configure Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, compartments, groups, and security domains.
- Support compliance with:
- DoD RMF
- DISA STIGs
- NIST 800‑53
- HIPAA
- Zero Trust Architecture principles
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain secure cloud operations.
- Support continuous monitoring and security auditing activities.
- Automate cloud deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Develop reusable deployment templates and automation scripts.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Utilize automation tools to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Implement configuration management and cloud governance standards.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure health, availability, and performance.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization layers.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective actions.
- Optimize cloud environments for performance, resilience, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Participate in change management, release management, and maintenance activities.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
