Project Overview

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early‑works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The candidate will serve as a Field Systems Technician on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming, beginning in the Reston‑VA office and relocating to the field once mobilized.

The position is contingent on project award.

Job Summary

Reporting to the EPC Automation Lead, the Field Tech Coordinator is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting jobsite digital/automation applications. The role includes deploying automation, innovation, and AI solutions, troubleshooting system issues, preparing dashboards, documentation, and providing user support and training to drive safe and efficient execution.

Major Responsibilities
  • Assist in the deployment and management of Bechtel Standard Applications and related workflows.
  • Coordinate with the Project Field Engineer, IS&T Lead, and other automation leads to support AWP processes.
  • Audit data exchanges and ensure proper configuration for construction and commissioning activities.
  • Review and evaluate application deviations, collaborating for verification and approval.
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions including metrics, dashboards, and trackers.
  • Provide day‑to‑day operational support: troubleshooting, issue resolution, system monitoring, and escalation of complex technical issues.
  • Lead training, onboarding, and user support, including creation of user guides and training materials.
  • Ensure contractor and supplier compliance with automation, data quality, and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in rollout of new technologies, services, and security remediations.
  • Support execution planning and digital adoption, including upskilling initiatives.
  • Champion innovation and digital transformation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Construction Management, or related discipline; or 4–5 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and construction methods, workflows, and capital project execution processes.
  • Experience in data analysis and management, including validation and anomaly detection.
  • Understanding of system integration, configuration, and change management practices.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and construction visualization tools such as Navisworks.
  • Strong problem‑solving capability and adaptability to new tools and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to safety and knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of EPC automation applications and associated work processes.
  • Knowledge of construction progress measurement processes such as QURR.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform for solution development and automation.
  • Experience with 4D planning/visualization tools (Synchro) and Autodesk ecosystem tools.
  • Experience with project turnover and completion processes.
  • Experience with SQL database administration and data management.
