Overview

Thompson Hospitality is seeking an experienced Multi-Unit Restaurant Operations Leader to oversee the performance and success of multiple locations In MAryland and DC. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring brand standards, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on leader who develops and mentors General Managers, manages key financial metrics to achieve profitability, and supports recruiting, training, and retention to build strong teams.

This position requires strong business acumen, a focus on compliance and food safety, and the ability to collaborate with senior leadership on growth strategies and marketing initiatives. Regular site visits, performance audits, and cross‑functional collaboration with HR, Finance, and Marketing are essential to ensuring consistency and accountability across all units.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of multiple restaurant locations to ensure brand standards, guest satisfaction, and operational consistency.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop General Managers and their teams to foster a high‑performance culture and improve leadership capabilities.
  • Monitor and drive key financial metrics, including sales, labor, food cost, and controllable expenses to achieve profitability goals.
  • Ensure each location delivers exceptional service and hospitality that aligns with brand expectations and customer feedback.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, training, and retention efforts across all units; build internal bench strength for future leadership roles.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, local health codes, labor laws, and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on business strategy, marketing initiatives, and expansion plans within the region.
  • Conduct regular site visits and audits to evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure accountability.
  • Act as a key point of contact for conflict resolution, emergencies, and operational disruptions.
  • Work closely with departments such as HR, Finance, and Marketing to align support for each location’s success.
Qualifications
  • BS degree preferred
  • 3 years of Area Director management experience required
  • Proven ability to control costs and raise sales
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships and trust
  • Ability to travel in the future as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours).
  • Lift and carry up to 20 lbs (e.g., menus, high chairs, booster seats).
  • Reach, bend, and stoop occasionally.
  • Use hands and arms to operate reservation systems and phones.
  • Clear verbal communication skills and ability to interact with guests in a busy environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed while multitasking in a fast‑paced setting.
