Position: Manager Client Accounts - CT/ET

Summary

The Manager, Client Accounts, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, will be responsible for ensuring the exceptional delivery of Billing support to senior management, lawyers, and firm clients. This position will provide thought leadership in the development and implementation of best practices in Billing processes, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic goals.

Location

This position can sit in any of the following offices:
Chicago, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Reston, Raleigh, Short Hills, Washington, DC, or Wilmington, and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Connect with stakeholders to understand business needs, develop and implement best practices for Billing management
  • Lead a team of Billing specialists, ensuring overall alignment with firm billing practices, policies, and procedures; provide daily supervision and guidance
  • Ensure work assignments are completed on time and meet internal and external client expectations
  • Hold regular coaching and training sessions with direct reports, recognize development areas, complete performance reviews, and conduct annual reviews
  • Provide training to ensure billing processes and policies are applied consistently across the department
  • Onboard new team members, provide training and guidance on billing processes and procedures, and secure additional training as needed
  • Interact with clients, attorneys, and business professionals as a point of escalation; research and resolve billing issues, including account analysis and assist with invoice processing and collection
  • Escalate unresolved billing issues to senior management for timely resolution as needed
  • Track team metrics to ensure service level goals are met, analyze issues, and implement solutions; identify additional metrics to continuously improve client service levels
  • Create and maintain complex monthly reporting, reviewing data for accuracy before submission and determining if additional reporting is needed to enhance client support
  • Participate in and support project management initiatives; lead and manage projects including planning, development, and execution
  • Meet regularly with assigned team members, prepare agendas, and capture/tracks key discussion items
  • Track and resolve tickets assigned by the Accounting Service Desk on a daily basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum Years Of Experience
  • 7 years in a billing function at a law or professional services firm; 2 years in a supervisory or management role preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems such as Elite and/or Aderant (Aderant experience preferred); advanced experience with e‑Billing applications required

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds; primarily sitting with minimal walking and standing.

Work Environment

Hybrid work arrangement comprising remote and in‑office work; requirements determined in coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor.
