The position described here supports the land development function within the company and may involve regular travel to divisions to review sites and processes.
The Manager of Corporate Land supports each division’s land team in achieving company goals. The Manager will use their experience, with guidance from the Senior Director of Corporate Land, to implement Stanley Martin Way processes, policies, and best practices. Occasional travel to divisions (2–4 days/nights per month) is expected to meet with teams in person and visit project sites to review details and best practices.
Responsibilities- Assist the director as needed in the review of division land acquisition projects in feasibility as it relates to entitlement and development details, including reviewing land due diligence checklists, preliminary and site construction plans, and land development budgets to ensure proper planning details and costs are controlled by teams.
- Review division-controlled project materials, such as overall site plans, plats, lot-specific grading plans, lot matrices, consultant proposals, and general contractor contracts and schedules to ensure they are created, organized, and aligned with SMH best practices.
- Ensure Division Teams manage project management best practices for consultant and contractor schedules and conduct regular progress meetings during design and construction to open new neighborhoods on time.
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance and Corporate Accounting to review division land development budgets quarterly in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with reporting on land development activities and provide leadership with data to support informed decisions.
- Help create efficiencies in the land entitlement and development process through new forms, checklists, and training materials.
- Work with the Corporate Field Operations (Production Homebuilding) team to ensure safety program adherence and lead monthly Corporate safety meetings and other training sessions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, SWPPP and other applicable state and federal agencies; recommend best management practices where applicable.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager.

- College degree preferred; minimum 10 years of relevant planning, design and construction experience; minimum 5 years of residential development experience
- Experience in residential development with a background in general construction estimating, take-offs, budgeting, and material cost control
- Proven results in project management and scheduling
- Ability to develop working relationships internally and externally
- General understanding of Production Homebuilding and the process of delivering finished lots
- Understanding of other business processes such as purchasing, architecture, finance, accounting and legal
- Proficiency with general technology, spreadsheets and Microsoft software systems
