This role offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with U.S. Coast Guard C5

ISC leadership to modernize enterprise and solution architecture practices—guiding the evolution from legacy, document‑centric DoDAF and DoDAF Meta‑Model (DM2) architectures to modern Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches aligned to the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF). The Architect provides senior technical leadership while remaining hands‑on in the development and maturation of "As‑Is" and "To‑Be" Solution Architectures, ensuring alignment with U.S. Coast Guard Enterprise Architecture, Target Architecture, and engineering standards.

Architecture work is performed using disciplined, repeatable methodologies that maintain compliance with current DoDAF and DM2 requirements while deliberately introducing and scaling MBSE practices in coordination with Government stakeholders and the C5

ISC System Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).

Essential Functions & Duties
  • Serve as a senior, hands‑on Enterprise / Solution Architect partnering directly with U.S. Coast Guard C5

    ISC leadership to modernize architecture practices.
  • Lead and actively execute the development, evolution, and review of "As‑Is" and "To‑Be" architectures across legacy DoDAF/DM2 and emerging UAF/MBSE implementations.
  • Guide and support the transition from document‑centric DoDAF architectures to UAF‑aligned MBSE practices, including transition planning, pilot efforts, and phased adoption.
  • Develop, review, and refine architectural models, views, and artifacts, ensuring technical rigor, traceability, and alignment with mission, enterprise, and engineering objectives.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to U.S. Coast Guard leadership, supporting architectural decision‑making, trade studies, and alignment across programs and product lines.
  • Collaborate closely with system engineers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to integrate architecture with requirements, design, and delivery activities.
  • Facilitate executive‑level and technical working sessions to resolve architectural issues, align stakeholders, and drive architectural outcomes.
  • Provide architectural mentorship and technical guidance to architects and engineers supporting delivery teams.
  • Ensure architectural products are integrated, governed, and baselined in accordance with CG Enterprise Architecture, SELC, and configuration management requirements.
Skills, Qualifications and Certifications of Best Candidates

Required:

  • 8+ years of professional experience as an Enterprise Architect and/or Solution Architect supporting complex enterprise or mission systems.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining "As‑Is" and "To‑Be" Enterprise and Solution Architectures in a U.S. Government, DoD, DHS, or similarly regulated enterprise environment.
