Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer supporting a portfolio of analytic capabilities for DoW and IC customers including the Space Warfighting Analysis Center, Space Security and Defense Program, US Space Command, US Strategic Command, Air Force Studies and Analysis, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. Responsibilities include adopting Model Based Systems Engineering principles, developing modeling architectures with Cameo Systems Modeler and AFSIM, coding in Python, C++, MATLAB, translating models into simulations, and providing technical products and analysis.
Must communicate with government customers and travel to sites with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Create, refine, and present data products with compelling narratives for senior leaders and non-technical audiences.
- Identify and isolate analytic, logical, and syntax anomalies in simulations, MBSE models, algorithms, and big data.
- Conduct analysis and create custom metrics within a discrete event simulator framework like AFSIM and perform post‑processing with Python, R, Excel, etc.
- Provide quantitative answers to challenging, space‑systems focused questions.
- Support subject matter experts who advise senior leaders on methodological, analytical, and domain‑specific issues.
- Analyze the accuracy of algorithms within modeling frameworks and collaborate to discover improvements.
- Assist the Portfolio Lead with development of architectural and technical communication products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent) or Operations Research/Mathematics (or equivalent).
- 5–10 years relevant experience.
- Object‑oriented software coding experience (Python, C++, MATLAB).
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering, SysML, and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
- SCI eligible and able to work in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
- Willingness to travel CONUS approximately 20% of the time.
- Experience modeling, simulating, and analyzing DoD systems at various levels of granularity.
- Strong skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, especially in modeling detailed behaviors using state machines.
- Experience in independent Project Management.
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
