The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in coordinating food delivery and distribution programs for Cornerstones’ Assistance Services and Pantry Program (ASAPP). The Program Coordinator will serve program participants directly, individually, and as a group. The Program Coordinator will provide administrative support to the department’s obligations and provide assistance to prepare for the holiday and giving programs. The Program Coordinator will support warehouse operations as needed.

The Program Coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills and must possess a patient, trauma-informed approach to service delivery using an equity lens. The Program Coordinator ensures that services are equitable and delivered with integrity in accordance with the Agency Mission, Vision, and Values. A candidate that is bilingual in English/Spanish and has the ability to use one’s lived personal experience of food insecurity to help assess system barriers is a plus.

• Works closely with the ASAPP Senior Program Coordinator to establish trusting relationships with program participants through formal and informal contact, provide follow-up to identified needs, pack food for program participants, and assist those with unable to carry items to their vehicles.
• Conducts intake assessments with walk-in participants, to confirm TANF eligibility and provide direct assistance, information, and referrals as appropriate to inform program participants regularly of services offered on-site and in the community.
• Works with the ASAPP Senior Program Coordinator to coordinate educational, social, and recreational activities and events that support self-sufficiency, such as financial and budgeting workshops, nutrition classes, etc.
• Visit warehouse facility as needed to assess the status and arrange for transfer of food from warehouse to the agency’s food pantry and assist donors from their vehicles.
• Disinfects countertops and sink and mops the floor weekly.
• Picks up perishable food weekly from the designated vendor.
• Assists program volunteers during food drives, in stocking and arranging storage areas.
• Provides support for other Neighborhood Resources programs or agency-wide programs and activities.
• Uses automated technology and hard copy files to maintain promptly, update, and report case data, goal attainment, and outcomes.
• Must be able to lift over 40 lbs.

• Documents programming efforts, referrals, outcomes, needs, and overall progress and prepare reports required by Fairfax County and other agencies.
• Works with ASAPP Senior Program Coordinator to schedule and coordinate seasonal drives.
• Supports the SNAP at the Market program at Reston Farmers Market on Saturdays, May through November, in rotation with other staff and volunteers.
• Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
• Identifies and establishes volunteer opportunities in conjunction with program staff to support ASAPP operations.
• Performs any other duties deemed necessary to support the agency.

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable human services field or commensurate experience.
• Three years experience in human relations or customer service.
• Current Serv Safe Food Handler Certificate.
• Verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish.
