Company ProfileFounded in 2010, this privately‑owned and run company currently operates eight senior living communities across four states. Facilities offer exceptional services in independent living, assisted living, memory care, couples care, rehabilitation services, and more. The company is seeking a compassionate Director of Nursing for its Reston location.
Position DescriptionThe Director of Nursing Services (DON) oversees nursing operations within the senior living community, ensuring high‑quality resident care, staff supervision, and the implementation of clinical policies that support resident health and safety.
The DON is supported by two nurse managers. The community houses approximately 90 residents across the assisted living facility and memory care unit.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the nursing department.
- Ensure high‑quality, resident‑centered care.
- Recruit, hire, and train nursing staff.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Participate in staff scheduling.
- Monitor staffing levels, inventory, and adjust as needed.
- Oversee medication management program quality and safety.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care.
- Oversee clinical documentation.
- Lead infection prevention and control initiatives.
- Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure appropriateness of admissions and readmissions.
- Address resident and family concerns and provide timely resolution.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and complaints, ensuring protocol compliance.
- Participate in annual business and budget planning for the nursing department.
- Lead weekly health maintenance meetings.
- Lead the skin integrity program, delegating weekly skin checks and wound rounds.
- Assist physicians and other directors with care planning and assessment completion.
- Represent the organization in professional and community activities.
- Maintain positive relations with referral sources and service providers.
- Participate in professional development activities as required.
The facility uses the Yardi electronic health record.
Requirements- Virginia RN license.
- BSN degree.
- 3+ years of nursing leadership experience in a similar environment.
