Job Description
The Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) will operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, supporting Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs for the Intelligence Community (IC). The CSSO's primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing the security program to ensure compliance with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs 703, 704, 505, and other applicable directives), Security Classification Guides (SCGs), and Statements of Work. Key responsibilities include personnel security, physical security, and program OPSEC/P2 planning.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Interpret and implement security guidance based on applicable ICDs, SEADs, 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, and other relevant policies and regulations.
- Manage all aspects of the IC Customer Personnel Security Program, including validation of SCI access, handling access requirements, processing SCI and eligibility requests, polygraph requests, nomination interviews, investigative requests, and coordinating SCI security briefings.
- Oversee physical security, providing day‑to‑day support for badging, access control, and visitor control; ensure SCIF documentation is current.
- Support program managers with classification guidance, including incoming and outgoing visit certifications, foreign travel reporting, and proposal support.
- Ensure SCI material is properly controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, safeguarded, and destroyed as appropriate.
- Investigate security incidents and prepare required reports.
- Build and maintain relationships with government security counterparts.
- Provide security awareness training as required by regulations and client requests.
- Collaborate with IT and ISSO to authorize equipment entering secure areas.
- Assist with guidance on future ICD 705 builds at company sites.
- Work with the ISSO/ISSM on information system management.
- Maintain all security requirements for government inspections.
- Minimum four years of full‑time security experience within a SCIF environment, covering personnel, physical, information, and basic information assurance domains.
- Ability to work independently and possess knowledge of the full range of security principles, including risk evaluation, mitigation implementation, and dissemination of procedures.
- Proactive relationship building with government security counterparts.
- Current TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
- Completion of a formal SSO certification course and SCIF physical security course within the last five years.
- Experience with DISS and Scattered Castles.
- Proficiency with SIMS or other security management tools.
$129,000 – $171,000 USD per year, based on experience. Equity grants are included in most full‑time offers and are part of the total compensation package. The salary range is an estimate based on a wide range of factors, including work experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations.
