Summary

You will serve as a Security Officer with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The position is responsible for managing the USGS Security Management Program and providing oversight of the authority delegated from the USGS Director to the Physical Security Officer;
Identity, Credential, and Access Management Officer; and National Security Officer. Salary: $143,913 (Step 01) to $187,093 (Step 10);

NOTE:

First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:

Serve as the Bureau Security Officer in the management, development, and on‑going evaluation of the Bureau's Personnel and Suitability, Physical, and National Security Programs in concert with Federal, Department of Interior (DOI) and Bureau regulation, policy, and practices.

Serve as a senior advisor to management and executive leadership developing and implementing strategic plans in support of the Bureau Security operations, policies, and regulations that impacts the Bureau's mission and interface with other operational or security program.

Analyze regulations, directives, and policies originating with DOI, Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DCSA), and Homeland Security, to determine their impact need for new or modified USGS issuances or policy.

Manage and lead the development of short and long‑range planning activities and initiatives that include work plans addressing changing technology, work processes, and directives affecting the Bureau's Security Program.

Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities to include planning and reviewing work, staffing, identifying training needs, implementing EEO policies, evaluating employees' performance, and carrying out disciplinary actions.
