Senior Software Engineer

Reston, VA

• Develop code on the Node.js platform, using JavaScript, Type Script, and React.
• Work within an existing codebase and collaborate with a team.
• Build enterprise‑scale backend REST APIs with frameworks such as Express.js using an API‑first paradigm.
• Use PostgreSQL for data persistence.
• Collaborate with Product Owner and UX design to understand user requirements and create solutions.
• Partner with Architects and other Engineers to establish and implement development best practices.
• Focus on security, performance, and scalability from the beginning of service design.
• Debug code and troubleshoot technical issues to deliver appropriate solutions.
• Participate in Scrum to address complex backend problems such as integrating external services, modifying database structures, and adding new REST services.
• Implement complex business logic using modern technologies.
• Collaborate with Dev Ops Engineers in a test‑driven mindset, utilizing continuous integration and continuous deployment techniques.
• Perform code reviews and develop processes to improve code quality.

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field plus 5 years of progressively responsible software engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with Node.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with AWS.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with SQL‑based databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Minimum 3 years of experience building enterprise‑scale backend REST APIs with Express.js and using an API‑first paradigm.
• Minimum 3 years of experience building systems for the cloud.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with modern design patterns and building enterprise‑grade production applications.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, and RDS.
• Must have lived in the United States for a total of 3 full years (out of the last 5 years).
• Candidate must obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Candidate must reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the U.S.; work must be performed in the U.S.

Pay range: $ – $ per year.
