Software Engineer - Golang or Python​/Kubernetes - Freewheel

This role involves collaborative design and development of software solutions that meet business objectives. It includes system requirement analysis, application customization, and assistance with software updates. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, ensuring quality through Quality Assurance, and providing technical leadership on routine projects. Additionally, the candidate will conduct training for application users.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and integrate innovative software solutions that align with business needs.
• Conduct analysis of system requirements and customize applications to ensure optimal functionality.
• Assist with the software update process for existing applications and roll‑outs of software releases.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge.
• Engage with Quality Assurance to verify that software meets technical specifications and delivers high‑quality, reliable applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in software applications and systems.
• Synthesize market research and industry trends to inform project strategies and enhance product offerings.
• Conduct training sessions for operational staff to ensure effective use of internally developed applications.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, with a variable schedule as necessary.

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Go or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS or OCI.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Argo CD.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Git Ops practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration abilities.

• Operating production Kubernetes environments.
• Experience with EKS, OKE, or other managed Kubernetes services.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or self‑service tooling.

The position requires the ability to work nights and weekends, with a variable schedule as necessary.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Information Science is preferred, but we may consider applicants with a combination of coursework and experience, or those with extensive related professional experience.
