Free Wheel is looking for passionate Software Engineer Managers to run an Engineering team to design, build and support our high‑quality, innovative video advertising platform.
Free Wheel helps the television industry monetize their premium content through a robust technology platform that enables consumers to view high‑quality videos on any device—including PC, smartphone, OTT devices, set‑top boxes, and traditional TV. Our New York Engineering Hub is a core part of our global engineering group, building a one‑stop solution for the TV industry to manage its billion‑dollar revenue.
Our tech platform can handle billions of daily requests, process terabytes of daily data, and optimize clients’ business.
- Manage an Engineering team and collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements, conducting analysis to determine integration needs.
- Review the design of new software and web applications, support applications under development, customize current applications, and assist with software update processes and roll‑outs of releases.
- Participate in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
- Research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
- Monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products, reviewing literature, patents, and current practices relevant to assigned projects.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance regarding practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Display in‑depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the specified engineering specialty.
- Display in‑depth knowledge of process design and redesign skills; present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
- Lead an Eng team to complete the software development lifecycle, including designing, prototyping, implementation, testing, maintenance, and technical support.
- Produce technical specifications and determine operational feasibility.
- Review well‑designed, testable, efficient code and other documents.
- Support overall business operations.
- Technically solve issues as they arise.
- Partner with global engineering, product, and operations teams to incorporate collective innovations.
- Experience with C/C++, DB design, and network programming.
- Experience with large system software design and development.
- Experience with distributed systems and mission‑critical systems.
- Experience managing 5–8 Engineers.
- Experience with Golang is a plus.
- Experience with Agentic AI in SDLC is a plus.
- Advertising industry experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in problem‑solving and technical innovation.
- Strong passion for learning and practicing new techniques.
- Knowledgeable about SDLC, Agile, and Software Engineering methodology.
- Team‑working skills, strong communication, and willingness to work under pressure.
- Capacity for persistent technical support.
- Ability to work closely with global teams and be available for additional hours outside normal working hours to meet global team needs.
Bachelor’s Degree or above.
Relevant Work ExperienceAt least 8 years of relevant work experience.
