- Senior Core Java/Angular Software Engineer (Java, Spring Boot & Microservices)
Location: Reston, VA (2-3 days a week on-site)
Salary: 160 –180K + 10%

Must Have the Following:

• 5–7+ years of Java 17+ and Spring Boot development
• Experience building Microservices and REST APIs
• Agile/Scrum and Dev Sec Ops  experience
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins preferred)
• Docker, Kubernetes, and Open Shift
• JUnit 5, Mockito, and Cucumber testing
• Git, Maven, IntelliJ
• Strong SQL and API development experience
• Experience with messaging (JMS), transaction management, and distributed systems

Responsibilities:
Our growing client is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to help modernize critical enterprise applications by developing secure, scalable APIs and cloud-ready microservices. This position offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical financial platforms while collaborating with an Agile Scrum team focused on innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java 17+ applications using Spring Boot.
• Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Develop secure, high-performance enterprise software following Dev Sec Ops  best practices.
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, development, testing, and deployment.
• Convert business requirements into technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
• Develop automated unit, integration, and behavioral tests using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Cucumber.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and support automated deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, scalability, and application performance.
• Optimize Java applications through performance tuning, memory management, and multithreading techniques.
• Support production applications and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
• Develop technical documentation and application support materials.
• Mentor teammates while helping drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience
• Expert-level Java 17+ and Spring Boot development
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Experience building REST APIs and distributed microservices
• Strong testing background using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Cucumber
• IntelliJ and Maven experience
• Git source control experience
• Knowledge of OAuth2/OpenID Connect security
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Open Shift
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins or similar tools
• Experience with SQL databases;
  Liquibase is a plus
• Familiarity with JMS messaging
• Experience with transaction management, thread safety, retries, circuit breakers, and idempotency
• Experience with Angular or Type Script is preferred
• Knowledge of UNIX/RHEL scripting is a plus
• Financial services or mortgage industry experience is preferred
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
