DevOps, Cloud Engineer - Software
About Takt Takt is a warehouse intelligence platform that unifies labor, automation, and robotics data so 3PLs, retailers, and e-commerce companies can run more efficient operations. Warehouses generate enormous amounts of data and most of it never reaches the people doing the work. We build the software that closes that gap, giving supervisors and frontline employees the information they need, when they need it, on the floor where decisions actually get made.
Our software runs every shift, every day, in real facilities for leading brands including Macy's, Target, Stitch Fix, Flexport, ODW Logistics, and
About the role Warehouses don't stop, and neither does our platform. We're hiring a senior Dev Sec Ops engineer to own the infrastructure, security posture, and developer experience behind a system that customers depend on around the clock. You'll be responsible for how Takt builds, deploys, secures, and monitors software, and you'll have the authority to change what isn't working. This is a senior role with broad ownership.
Our engineering team is small and works together to solve problems; you'll work directly with our CTO and Director of Engineering, and the platforms and tooling you build will multiply what every other engineer can ship. You'll take ambiguous, high-stakes problems, from a compliance finding to a flaky deploy pipeline to a multi-region failover design, and drive them to done.
you’ll do
- Own our infrastructure as code: manage and evolve the Terraform configurations that define our application, customer, and Dev Ops platforms.
- Manage our Google Cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters, networking, IAM, and the services that support production and pre-production environments.
- Design and operate multi-region deployments for reliability and performance in facilities that run 24/7.
- Manage and optimize CI/CD on Git Hub Actions: reusable workflows, faster builds, safer releases, and a deploy process engineers trust.
- Own our compliance program in Vanta, maintaining SOC 2 and GDPR requirements and ensuring ongoing compliance as the platform and team grow.
- Enable the engineering team with tools to better manage, deploy, secure, and monitor code, from observability to secrets management to security scanning.
- Own incident management through incident.io: response process, on-call health, postmortems, and the follow-through that prevents repeat incidents.
We're an AI-forward engineering team. Every engineer gets a monthly AI tools budget for Claude, Cursor, and whatever else makes you better, and we expect you to use it. AI-assisted development isn't a shortcut here; it's how we work. As a senior engineer, you'll help set the standard for using these tools well: reviewing generated code critically, understanding what ships under your name, and building guardrails so the whole team can move fast safely.
Whatwe're looking for
- 5+ years of professional experience across Dev Ops, SRE, platform, or security engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep, hands-on Terraform experience managing production infrastructure as code.
- Strong experience operating Google Cloud (or a comparable cloud at depth), including Kubernetes, networking, and IAM.
- Experience designing or operating multi-region deployments and reasoning about availability, failover, and data locality.
- A track record of building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines at scale, ideally on Git Hub Actions.
- Working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and GDPR, and experience keeping an organization audit-ready;
Vanta experience is a plus. - A security mindset applied by default: least privilege, secrets hygiene, supply-chain awareness, and pragmatic risk trade-offs.
- Ownership and drive: you take ambiguity and run with it, communicate clearly, and leave systems better documented than you found them.
- Comfort reading and writing Go or Type Script; our backend is Go and our frontend is Vue, Nuxt, and Type Script.
- Experience with data infrastructure such as Big Query and Dataflow.
- Experience running incident management with incident.io or a similar platform.
- Prior startup experience, or comfort being the owner of a domain rather than one of many.
- Curiosity about logistics, warehousing, or how physical operations actually run.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) with employer match.
- Unlimited PTO.
- A monthly AI tools budget for every engineer.
- A top-of-the-line Mac Book Pro, dual 4K monitors, and your choice of keyboard and mouse at your desk in the office.
Two phone screens, followed by an onsite in our Reston office with four to five interviews. We'll keep you informed at every step; no black holes.
LocationTakt is based in Reston, VA, with our office located next to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station on the Silver Line. We're looking for local candidates who can be in the office at least four days a week; we build together.
