Operations Manager, Program / Project Manager
A U.S. focused gold developer is seeking a Project Controls Manager to support a large-scale open pit oxide gold project advancing through feasibility, permitting, detailed engineering, construction readiness, and toward future mining operations.
This is a senior owner's team position requiring a highly organised project controls professional capable of building the systems, processes, reporting frameworks, and governance required to successfully deliver a major mining project from development into execution.
The successful individual will play a key role in developing and managing project controls, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, reporting, document control, change management, and risk management systems as the project progresses toward construction.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project controls systems covering cost control, scheduling, forecasting, reporting, change management, risk tracking, and document control
- Maintain and manage the integrated project schedule across engineering, permitting, procurement, construction readiness, commissioning, and operational planning activities
- Track project costs, commitments, forecasts, accruals, contingencies, and variances against approved budgets
- Develop project reporting dashboards and management reports covering schedule, cost, progress, risk, procurement, and key project decisions
- Establish and maintain document control systems, registers, workflows, revision control processes, and information management standards
- Lead change management processes, risk tracking activities, action logs, and project governance reporting
- Support engineering, procurement, contracts, construction readiness, and operational readiness activities across the project
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate project information and reporting
- Provide project leadership with clear visibility of critical path activities, emerging risks, key milestones, and project performance
- 8+ years of experience within project controls, project engineering, cost control, scheduling, project management, or related disciplines
- Experience supporting major mining, heavy industrial, infrastructure, energy, or capital project developments
- Strong background in project scheduling, cost control, forecasting, reporting, and performance measurement
- Experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar software
- Strong understanding of change management, risk management, project governance, and project reporting processes
- Experience working with engineering consultants, EPCM firms, contractors, vendors, and owner's teams
- Ability to build practical, scalable project controls systems within a lean project development environment
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience supporting feasibility studies, detailed engineering, construction readiness, commissioning, or project execution activities highly regarded
- Mining project experience, particularly within North American operations, would be advantageous
