Job Title: System Administrator
Location: Remote
Duration: Contract to hire
Rate: $45-50/hr
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled System Administrator to join our team. The System Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of system administration principles and a passion for technology.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), applications, and hardware.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including patches, updates, and access controls.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to implement and improve IT processes and infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Implement and manage cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP) as required.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a System Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management.
- Knowledge of security best practices and tools.
- Experience with scripting languages (Power Shell, Bash, Python) is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, CCNA) are highly desirable.
