The Security Guard provides a highly visible uniformed presence at Madisonhealth facilities, with an emphasis on the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit, for the purpose of deterring and preventing criminal behavior. Also, ensure the safety and well-being of patients, employees, physicians, and visitors.

The Security Guard is the entry-level position in the department, responsible for ensuring a visible presence to deter, detect, and respond to safety and security incidents. Guards protect patients, visitors, staff, and property while providing customer service and assisting with access control. They support hospital operations by responding to alarms, codes, and emergencies.

• Variable schedule, Rotating shifts- will be discussed in interview.

• Basic computer skills
• Clean criminal history
• Minimum 21 years old (waived for military applicants)
• Read, write, and speak English fluently (bilingual is a plus)

• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred.
• At least one-year work experience after high school
• Completion of required START training within the first 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

• Patrol hospital buildings, campus, and grounds by foot or vehicle to detect suspicious activity, safety hazards, and security violations while ensuring all access points are secure.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and surveillance systems to prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, or disturbances.
• Respond promptly to all emergencies, codes, alarms, disturbances, and requests for assistance.
• Protect staff, patients, and visitors by deterring, detecting, and responding to incidents and threats.
• Assist hospital staff in managing physically aggressive behavior and enforcing visitor policies using de-escalation and basic restraint techniques when necessary.
• Provide professional customer service and safe escorts for patients, visitors, and employees as requested.
• Conduct regular inspections of hospital property, equipment, and facilities as directed.
• Operate and monitor security equipment including CCTV, radios, alarms, and access control systems.
• Prepare accurate incident reports, shift reports, activity logs, and other required documentation.
• Participate in mandatory START training, drills, and exercises in accordance with hospital emergency management plans.
• Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and conduct while on duty at all times.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, hospital staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
