Position: WATER SEASONAL LABORER
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Assist the water department in repairing and maintaining water services and water lines in the city. 6-month position, 8-hour days

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Must be able to assist with various jobs such as; shoveling and cleanup, perform repair of water service connections and water lines, water mains and fire hydrants.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Ability to operate hand tools.

* Participate in work zone safety procedures.

* Ability to tolerate weather extremes in the work environment.

* Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and follow instructions.

* Ability to work effectively with City employees and the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Drivers License and any other documents the Water foreman requires.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMETNS

Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching and lifting (moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally moving up to 80 pounds). Talking, hearing and seeing essential to performing required job functions. Frequent exposure to changing weather conditions. Employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee frequently works in precarious places and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk from moving traffic.

Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking. Daily local travel required in normal course of job performance.
