Industrial Electrician – City of Boise Public Works Utilities

The City of Boise is looking for a skilled Industrial Electrician to support our Public Works utilities. In this role, you’ll troubleshoot, maintain, and repair complex industrial electrical and control systems that keep critical city infrastructure running safely and reliably. You'll work on motors, pumps, generators, PLCs, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, and other essential utility equipment. We’re hiring for both our Lander Street and West Boise Water Renewal Facilities.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 4 years of experience in an industrial plant, performing journey‑level work installing, maintaining and conducting repairs on industrial electrical systems.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment and systems, uninterrupted power supplies, fire alarm systems, HVAC control circuits, large generator backup systems, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and occupational hazards, programmable logic controllers, variable‑frequency motor drives, National Electric Code, state and local requirements, and related software.
• Ability to test instruments such as multimeters, power monitors, ammeters, meggers, and line tracers; act as a signing journey‑level electrician for permits and inspections; create complex electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and repair complex motor controls and electro‑mechanical systems.

• Journey‑level Electrician license issued by the State of Idaho
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license
• First Aid and CPR certifications

• City of Boise background check processes which include a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
• Driving Record Check

Performs maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment within the industrial wastewater treatment plant facilities and other utilities. Assists with preventive maintenance procedures on instrumentation equipment.
