Primary Job Function:

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’
Special Education Coordinator (K–12) is responsible for working closely with the Director of Special Education to develop, implement, and sustain high-quality programs and services for students with disabilities across elementary and secondary levels. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that special education programming is implemented with fidelity, compliance, and a strong focus on student outcomes. This role provides district wide leadership, technical assistance, and oversight to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate services and supports aligned to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Ohio Administrative License (e.g., Principal, Pupil Services, or Superintendent).
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License in Special Education or Pupil Services license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in special education.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (BCI/FBI).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in special education administration.
  • Experience providing district- or building-level leadership across multiple grade spans (K-12).
  • Proven track record in conflict resolution and Facilitated IEP (FIEP) processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Coordination
  • Coordinate special education programming across K–12 schools.
Service Delivery Oversight
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of special education services in accordance with students' IEPs.
Compliance Auditing
  • Conduct IEP verifications to ensure compliance with processes, procedures, and delivery of specially designed instruction and related services.
Staff Development
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to staff including case managers, Intervention Specialists, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and support professionals.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure district compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to students with disabilities and those suspected of having a disability.
Policy Implementation
  • Assist in the development and implementation of district procedures and policies related to identification, evaluation, placement, and service delivery.
Monitoring Support
  • Support and participate in district wide internal monitoring processes.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding special education processes, including referrals, evaluations, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.
Relationship Building
  • Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
Transportation Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the transportation department to secure and maintain appropriate transportation services for students with disabilities.
Talent Acquisition
  • Partner with building principals and the Human Resources department to support hiring, staffing, and talent acquisition.
Systems Support
  • Assist in the development and implementation of district MTSS and PBIS frameworks, ensuring fidelity and compliance.
Personnel Evaluation
  • Evaluate staff as outlined in the negotiated agreement.
Outplacement Coordination
  • Collaborate with building teams, district leadership, and providers regarding outplaced students, related services, and community agencies.
