Primary Job Function:
The Reynoldsburg City Schools' Related Services Assistant is responsible for supporting the work of certificated related services providers, including School Psychologists, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), and Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs). Under direct supervision, the assistant helps with planning and carrying out programs and services designed to support students in achieving their maximum potential.
This role provides evaluation support, data collection, and clerical services while strictly adhering to the scope of practice and refraining from duties that exceed training or certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Child Development, Human Development, Learning, Behavioral Management, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a K-12 setting.
- Valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit with ESEA qualified endorsement (or ability to obtain).
- Knowledge of child development fundamentals, learning theories, and behavioral management strategies.
- Ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a special education or related services support role.
- Proficiency in web-based Special Education management software (e.g., Same Goal or Progress Book).
- Experience assisting with the administration of standardized screening tools or curriculum-based measures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clerical Support
- Perform clerical tasks including filing, copying, scheduling meetings, gathering and disseminating student data, and preparing correspondence and reports.
Data Organization
- Gather and organize data related to student academic performance, behavior, and emotional or physical functioning to assist in the evaluation process.
Collaboration
- Collaborate regularly with related services providers, coordinators, special education leadership, and building administrators to ensure service delivery.
Confidentiality
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with federal (FERPA/HIPAA), state, and local requirements regarding student records and disability status.
Case Management Support
- Provide case management support, including tracking evaluation deadlines, maintaining service logs, and assisting with paperwork submission for ETRs and IEPs.
Assessment Assistance
- Assist with standardized assessments by administering non-interpretive components, curriculum-based measures, and pre-determined screeners under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
Evaluation Support
- Support data collection through interviews with parents, students, and staff, as well as conducting structured observations of students in various educational settings.
Instructional and Therapeutic Materials
- Prepare materials and assist with pre-planned academic, social-emotional, or therapeutic activities designed by supervising providers (e.g., OT, PT, SLP).
Student Observation
- Informally observe students in classroom or school settings to support the evaluation of academic, behavioral, and functional/motor concerns.
Record Review
- Review student records and organize evaluation files for supervising professionals to ensure all necessary historical data is available.
