Primary Job FunctionThe Reynoldsburg City Schools' High School Assistant Principal serves as a key instructional and operational leader. The Assistant Principal is responsible for fostering a high‑achievement culture, managing comprehensive student behavior systems, and ensuring instructional excellence through the OTES 2.0 framework. This role balances student advocacy with firm accountability to prepare students for post‑secondary success in a safe, inclusive environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
- Valid State of Ohio Principal License (Grades 7‑12 or 4‑9).
- Valid State of Ohio Teaching License.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Credentialed in Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0).
- Experience in High School Master Scheduling and credit recovery programs.
- Proven track record in reducing chronic absenteeism through intervention.
- Experience in staff recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Discipline & Investigations: Lead the building's behavioral systems; conduct thorough investigations, assign equitable consequences, and ensure consistent follow‑through.
- PBIS Implementation: Drive school wide PBIS expectations to build a respectful and safe culture; provide proactive classroom management support to teachers.
- High Visibility: Maintain a constant presence in hallways, common areas, and during lunch periods to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- MTSS Support: Participate in Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to identify and provide behavioral and academic interventions for at‑risk students.
- OTES Management: Execute the full OTES 2.0 cycle for assigned staff, including walkthroughs, formal observations, and conferences.
- Talent Management: Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new staff; actively support staff retention efforts and teacher growth plans.
- Master Scheduling: Support the development and maintenance of the Master Schedule and serve on the District/Building Calendar Committee.
- Mission & Vision: Align all leadership actions with the District's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Intervention Systems: Analyze attendance trends and lead initiatives to reduce chronic absenteeism; manage "hall sweeps" and document intervention outcomes.
- Compliance: Ensure 504 and IEP documentation is completed in accordance with state and federal law; facilitate meetings as the administrative representative.
- Emergency Lead: Serve as the building lead during emergencies and safety drills, ensuring 100% compliance with safety protocols.
- Multi‑Channel Communication: Maintain transparent, solution‑focused communication with families via phone, email, meetings, and digital platforms (e.g., TalkingPoints).
- Community Partnerships: Build relationships with community agencies, colleges, and local organizations to enhance student opportunities.
