Primary Job Function

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Specialized Electives Teacher serves as an instructional leader and mentor during critical developmental and transitional stages for students. This role emphasizes specialized content expertise, hands‑on and experiential learning, and developmentally responsive instruction that fosters the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of every student in alignment with Ohio’s Learning Standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), OTES 2.0 performance standards, and the District’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or subject‑specific field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure & Certification: Valid, active Ohio Teaching License, Certificate, or Permit for the specific subject area and assigned grade band:
    • Fine Arts / PE / Health:
      Multi‑Age (PK–12) in Art, Music, Physical Education, or Health.
    • STEM / Science / Tech / Electives:
      Primary / Elementary (PK–5 / PK–8), Middle Childhood (4–9 Science, Math, or Tech/Computer Science), Adolescence to Young Adult (7–12 Science/Math), Multi‑Age PK–12, or valid Ohio STEM Teaching Permit / Endorsement / Supplemental STEM License.
  • Background Checks: Ability to pass Federal (FBI) and State (BCI) background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, STEM, Fine Arts, Physical Education, or subject‑specific field.
  • 2–3 years of teaching experience in an active, project‑based, studio, lab, or outdoor learning environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Project‑Based Learning (PBL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and trauma‑informed practices.
  • Proficiency in integrating educational technology, specialized tools, laboratory equipment, or physical/digital production software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Focus for Learning & Instructional Planning (OTES 2.0)
  • Aligns daily instruction, long‑range scope and sequence, and assessments directly with Ohio Learning Standards, National Standards, or NGSS in the designated discipline.
  • Develops measurable, clear, and rigorous student learning goals, establishing high expectations for all learners.
  • Establishes and executes a Professional Growth Plan (PGP) driven by student performance data and self‑reflection in accordance with OTES 2.0 framework cycles.
Lesson Delivery & Critical Thinking (OTES 2.0)
  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards‑aligned instruction using district curriculum and specialized instructional resources.
  • Employs varied research‑based strategies, hands‑on application, inquiry‑based labs, design challenges, and modern technology to foster critical thinking, problem‑solving, and creativity.
  • Communicates learning outcomes clearly, checks for understanding throughout lessons, and adjusts instructional pacing based on real‑time student feedback.
