Position summary: The Flammability Testing Technician processes incoming flame test materials, develops flammability test plans and performs flammability tests in accordance with customer and government requirements.
Qualifications / Essential Skills and Experience- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with little supervision
- Strict attention to detail
- Communication
- Verbal and written communication is accurate and concise
- Verbal and written communication is efficient and on time
- Basic comprehension of communication tools (MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Technical Documents
- Correct drawings, parts lists and feature lists are used
- Drawings, parts lists and feature lists are accessed efficiently
- Basic comprehension of drawings, parts lists and feature lists
- Basic identification of product features (Frame, Foam, Plastics, Wiring)
- Basic understanding of product component functionality
- Mechanical Aptitude / Measurement Ability
- Measurement methods are accurate and repeatable
- Quickly use basic hand tools and resources to complete assigned tasks
- Basic understanding of measurement methods
- Test Scheduling
- Basic comprehension of test schedule contents
- Ability to review test schedule and make appropriate decisions on testing sequence for efficiency and to meet deadlines
- Accurately update test schedule on time
- Testing Requirements
- Basic comprehension of test specifications and test method correlation documents
- Basic understanding of the relationship between test specifications and real‑world application
- Test Equipment
- Basic comprehension of test equipment and functionality
- Use test equipment accurately and efficiently
- Complete test equipment usage log and preventative maintenance logs
- Test Sample
- Accurately set up test sample to match specification and correlation documents
- Efficiently set up test samples to match specification and correlation documents
- Test Execution and Data Collection
- Efficiently and accurately execute testing to meet customer expectations
- All relevant test data and documentation are collected and saved appropriately
- Basic judgment and critical thinking are applied to mitigate potential issues
- Test Report
- Accurately create and represent test data and documentation in test report
- Complete reports efficiently and on time
- Basic comprehension of each section of test report
- Environmental conditions
- Open office environment. May be exposed to moderate noise levels. - Vocal Communication
- Required to express or exchange ideas by means of concise (clear, correct and timely) discussion with coworkers, customers, suppliers, etc. - Hearing Perception
- Ability to recognize information at normal spoken levels and/or receive detailed information through oral communications and/or make fine distinctions in sound. - Sensory Utilization
- Prepare and analyze written or computer data. - Physical Activities
- Required to stand, walk and sit, as well as use hands to pick up, handle or feel objects. May occasionally reach with hands and arms. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. - Visual Acuity
