The Heavy Equipment Operator I is a highly skilled operator responsible for performing mainline utility work, finish grading, and complex excavation operations. This position serves as a leader within the field crew and can support daily operations in the Foreman's absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate CAT 400 Excavators, D6 Dozers, and GPS-controlled equipment.
- Perform trenching, excavation, grading, and utility installation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and grade information.
- Safely excavate around live utilities.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
- Serve as a lead crew member and assist in directing work activities.
- Mentor and assist less experienced operators.
- Maintain all company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
- Extensive heavy equipment operating experience.
- Experience in site development and underground utility construction.
- Ability to read plans and grade information.
- Strong knowledge of excavation safety practices.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
- GPS machine control experience.
- OSHA certifications.
- CDL Class A or
B. - Leadership experience.
$35.00 - $42.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Overtime opportunities available.
