Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Dean of Health and Human Services, the Nursing Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in a variety of associate degree nursing courses. The position may require instruction in other Health and Human Service courses depending upon institutional needs. This position is based on the eight core competencies of nurse educators, as determined by the National League for Nursing.
Responsibilities are at the Rhinelander Campus and designated outreach and clinical locations with variable hours. Office hours are maintained in accordance with the college requirements. This will be a limited term position for two years.

Instruction- Using state-aligned curriculum, develop, maintain, and deliver performance-based learning‑centered instruction. This instruction reflects the mission, vision, and philosophy of the Health Occupations programs and Nicolet College.
- Employ teaching strategies appropriate to student learning needs which incorporate the Nicolet Core Abilities, Nursing program outcomes and specific course content competencies. Research best practices and adapt curriculum accordingly.
- Model critical thinking and clinical reasoning for students in a variety of classroom and clinical settings and promote opportunities for students to develop these skills. Demonstrate qualities of a scholar which include integrity, courage, perseverance, vitality, and creativity.
- Develop working relationships with students, faculty, and clinical agency staff to promote positive learning environments.
- Promote learning environments geared toward socialization to the role of the professional nurse within the larger professional nursing community.
- Facilitate optimal learning opportunities for students' specific learning styles and needs. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Conduct clinical and didactic evaluation of students, using assessment and evaluation data and various methods in a variety of cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains.
- Develop syllabi and curriculum in a performance based instruction model (WIDS).
- Maintain office hours in accordance with College requirements.
- Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning as well as other aspects of work.
- Engage in student retention strategies as appropriate.
- Provide guidance and resources to students to meet their individual learning needs, determine their academic career paths, and professional nursing opportunities.
- Maintain accurate scholastic records of students and submit required reports according to appropriate standards.
- Participate in ongoing education for professional growth and to improve teaching practices.
- Use feedback from self, peers, students, and administrative evaluations to improve role effectiveness.
- Develop leadership skills to shape and implement growth and positive change. Act as mentor for new faculty colleagues.
- Participate in professional organizations and activities that facilitate socialization to the nurse educator role.
- Maintain current RN licensure, certification, CEUs in area of expertise. Meet and maintain primary instructor qualifications set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. Meet and maintain WTCS and College Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements.
- Improve program and courses by working collaboratively with nursing faculty, administrators, and the WTCS through program review, curriculum and course development, assessment of student learning and input from the Nursing Program Advisory Committee.
- Promote articulations with high schools, as well as the four‑year degree colleges.
