RESPIRATORY THERAPY ASSISTANT Responsibilities
Provides respiratory and cardiopulmonary assessment, monitoring, diagnostic, and therapy services under medical direction to patients in a variety of care environments. Assists licensed respiratory care practitioner under direct, immediate, on‑premises supervision. Educates the public regarding respiratory disease and care. Provides respiratory care to patients of all ages, including pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Interprets patient information and understands treatment needs depending on the age of patients under care.
Demonstrates understanding of the needs of specific age groups in terms of their physical, motor, psychosocial, and intellectual/language development.
0.001 FTE/Occasional hours; schedule to be determined around student availability and department need.
Experience / Qualifications- Knowledge of respiratory care standards and protocols normally acquired through active attendance as a senior student in an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care.
- Experience in clinical healthcare beneficial.
- Current BLS certification.
- Active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care, experience with electrocardiography, arterial monitoring and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) beneficial.
