Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association (GLTPA) is a non-profit organization that has provided leadership in the Lake States forest products industry for over 75 years. GLTPA proudly represents members across Michigan and Wisconsin, advocating for the interests of timber professionals and forest-based businesses. The association is committed to sustainable forest management and responsible use of natural resources. GLTPA offers a collaborative environment focused on supporting members, promoting industry standards, and advancing forestry-related education and outreach.

Role Description

The Communications Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Rhinelander, WI. This position is responsible for developing and distributing the monthly TPA Magazine, press releases, creating content for newsletters, websites, and member communications, and supporting strategic communications initiatives that advance GLTPA's mission. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining media contact lists, coordinating media outreach, monitoring coverage, and preparing communication materials for events, campaigns, and advocacy efforts.

The Communications Coordinator will also assist with social media updates, member communication tools, and design or layout of communication pieces while collaborating with staff, board members, and partners to ensure consistent messaging.

Qualifications
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to draft clear, concise press releases and other professional communications.
  • Demonstrated communication and media relations abilities, including building and maintaining relationships with media contacts.
  • Experience or training in strategic communications, including planning and executing communication initiatives to support organizational goals.
  • Ability to produce accurate and engaging written materials for diverse audiences, including members, partners, and the public.
  • Proficiency with standard Adobe design programs, office software and basic familiarity with digital communication tools (e.g., email platforms, social media, website content updates).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, members, and external stakeholders.
  • Relevant education or experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field; knowledge of forestry or natural resources is a plus.

Pay and benefit package commensurate with experience and knowledge.
