We are seeking an experienced Toolroom Manager to lead and oversee the full operation of our Toolroom within a high‑volume injection molding environment. This on‑site, first‑shift, direct‑hire position is responsible for tooling performance, maintenance planning, team leadership, and cross‑department collaboration to support overall production efficiency and product quality.
Responsibilities- Manage all daily Toolroom operations, ensuring cavitation goals, downtime targets, and expense controls are consistently met.
- Monitor the Mattec system to track presses down for mold repairs; assess mold conditions and determine corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues on the shop floor and provide technical support to other departments; contribute to root cause analysis for tooling‑related problems.
- Establish, maintain, and improve preventative maintenance systems for molds and related equipment.
- Oversee mold repairs, maintenance schedules, and continuous improvement of mold quality; assist Engineering with new mold construction and operational planning.
- Maintain mold configuration listings and evaluate Toolroom equipment needs.
- Work directly with Sales, Quality, Engineering, and Molding departments to resolve tooling issues and customer complaints.
- Lead, train, and supervise up to 15 Toolroom employees, including policy administration, time and attendance, job assignments, performance monitoring, and conducting reviews and career development planning.
- Participate in cross‑functional meetings such as staff meetings, product design reviews, and tooling improvement sessions.
- Support cost‑saving initiatives by reducing repair costs, minimizing unscheduled downtime, and improving overall efficiency.
- Track tool and machine repairs for budget justification and assist in preparing AFEs.
- Promote safety improvements within the Toolroom and ensure compliance with all company procedures and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience and/or training.
- Experience working with plastic injection molds required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Technical experience in injection molding and relevant tooling equipment.
- Supervisory/leadership experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
, especially Excel. - 2D/3D Drawings
- Experience with CNC Machines
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
